Position Description Responsibilities Team leaders are responsible for planning all aspects of the Senior Class Challenge. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Act as a liason between the Steering Committee and your organization/friends
• Design and implement Senior Class Challenge publicity • Recruit and be responsible for SCC Team Members • Communication with fellow seniors, faculty members and university administration • Participate in the post-evaluation of the Senior Class Challenge • Be hard working, reliable, and bring vision and suggestions to the SCC Expectations of Team Leaders
1. Help promote the Senior Class Challenge and encourage others to become involved
2. Recruit at least 10 team members within and outside your organization 3. Attend Team Leader Seminar on January 27th at 7:00pm in the Great Room at the Alumni Center 4. Attend Senior Class Challenge kickoff party on February 2nd at 7:00pm in the College Center 5. Set a positive example by making a donation to the SCC 6. Support the Steering Committee with all aspects of SCC 7. Represent yourself, the Senior Class and the Madison Fund appropriately Timeline
First semester (Fall 2003)
• November 16th: SCC literature hits table tents
• November 18th: SCC public relations posters go up around campus • December 1-5: Steering Committee and Team Leaders speak in front of classes to promote SCC Second semester (Spring 2004) • January 1st: SCC letter is mailed to all seniors and their parents at their homes • January 27th: Team Leader Seminar at 6:00pm in the Great Room at the College Center • February 2nd: SCC Kickoff Celebration from 7:00-9:00pm in College Center Ballroom • January 21- March 5: Steering Committee and Team Leaders stationed at tables in academic buildings to collect donations • March-April: Continue to collect donations, challenge parents to make matching gifts to support their student • Last week of April: SCC closing celebration as part of Senior Week
Rewards
• Improve leadership and communication skills
• Add a large-scale fundraising project, worth tens of thousands of dollars, to resume • Take part in large-scale event planning • Develop fundraising knowledge and abilities • Foster relationships with JMU students, faculty and administrators • Positively influence James Madison University • Lead the class of 2004 as they make a significant contribution to JMU
